Alan Lancaster - Born 7th February 1949
Alan was a founding member of Status Quo together with Francis Rossi and played with the band until 1985 . Differences in musical direction were the main reasons for his his departure from the band but the real reasons may never be known . Alan sang lead vocals on some classic Quo hits such as Backwater , Bye Bye Johnny and Roadhouse Blues . He also wrote with Rossi and Parfitt . Alan married an Australian and spent a lot of time in Oz during the 1980s . He appeared for the last time with Status Quo in Live Aid in 1985 . His court case on ownership of the Status Quo name was finally decided in 1986 with Rossi and Parfitt and the new lineup claiming the rights to the name Status Quo . Alan continued in the music industry joining the Australian band "The Party Boys" where he contributed with bass , vocals and songwriting . He also formed The Bombers which featured John Coghlan for a while and then the The Lancaster Bombers . These bands all played original and Quo material . His album "Life After Quo" has been recently rereleased and features material from these bands .
Alan currently resides in Sydney , Australia
It is rumoured Alan will join forces with John Coghlan in 2000 in a new band .
